The Story

In Memoriam

The Sad Hour, live portrait

The Sad Hour takes its name from a Victorian mourning custom: a casket clock, stopped at the exact hour a loved one passed, marking where their time ended and another began.

The band formed out of the wreckage of a previous Detroit project. Luke and Chuck came first, then Jesse through Luke's circle, then Charles out front. What holds them together isn't proximity, it's a shared fluency in darkness, and a debut single, "Dead Nor Alive," that's out now.

“We don't perform grief. We transmute it.” The Sad Hour, SONIQLOOX Interview
